Speaker: Ellis Scharfenaker
Bio: Ellis Scharfenaker is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Utah. He received a PhD in Economics from the New School of Social Research, New York and has previously taught at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Professor Scharfenaker’s research centers on the foundations of statistical reasoning, economic theory and methodology, and complex systems theory. His new book with Duncan K. Foley Making Statistics Work: Information Theory and Bayesian Statistical Inference develops the logic of Bayesian inference with an emphasis on its relation to information theory.
